Here at The Fig Tree @ 36, we are here to make sure you have an enjoyable, safe and relaxing experience with us.  Any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

It is now mandatory for you to wear a mask when entering the building. Whilst you’re sat at your table, you do not need to wear a mask. However when walking around the premises, you MUST wear one at all times. If you fail to comply, we have to right to politely ask you to leave. Should you forget a mask we have some for sale here.

Track & Trace. We advice that you download the new NHS COVID-19 app before you dine with us and use our unique location tracker QR code to sign in. This is not mandatory yet, so fear not we do have pen & paper for track & trace purposes. Just to note it is now a requirement that we take everyones details.

We ask that on arrival you use our hand sanitiser located outside before you enter the building. Once you are inside one of the team will check your temperature & proceed to show you to your table.

Once seated we ask that you remain seated. If you need to use the bathrooms please make sure you are wearing a mask when walking around the premises. We ask that you do not approach the bar for any reason. This is a staff working area.

Please maintain and respect social distancing at all times.

Team Fig will be cleaning door handles, toilet areas, card machine, trays regularly & all touch points.

New regulations state that we can seat 6 people or 2 households/ bubbles if larger than 6 people (updated from 17th May 2021)

We are The Fig Tree @ 36, an independent, family run, neighbourhood brasserie, serving locally inspired menus for every occasion. Creating Fresh, Local and Seasonal Food. Our food is prepared and cooked fresh to order. Each week we change our menus to keep things exciting.

Ryan and Tanya have always had a dream to open a restaurant together, they have brought the Fig Tree to life in a well established, well loved and memorable restaurant location. Their hope and aim is to aspire to those who came before them. While the restaurant became known as The Fig Tree @ 36 in September 2017, Ryan and Tanya have leapt into success entering not just 1 but 3 highly reputable food guides. Michelin, AA and Trenchermans. Since winning awards with Taste of the West – Gold 2018, 2019 and 2020, Food and Drink Devon Awarded them with Best Restaurant 2018, they have been eager to carry on the mentum. Michelin have given The Fig Tree @ 36 a nod of support, awarding them with a plate. Most recently the restaurant was awarded with 1 AA Rosette of culinary excellence and continued to maintain it for 2 consecutive years.

Tanya and Ryan met in 2010 whilst working together. They are a team in their personal life working together running a successful business. Behind the scenes they also manage to maintain a family home as mummy and daddy. They did not anticipate living and working together would be as natural as it has been, their children get involved where possible, keeping their business true to their beliefs. The Fig Tree @ 36 is a true family business. Not only are the children involved but they make sure team fig are not just staff but part of the family also. Whilst dining you will get a very warm welcome from the team. Often you will see Tanya working in the restaurant as well as behind the scenes. Ryan lives and breathes cooking but you may catch a natter with him on the phone if you book morning or late afternoon.

Ryan’s passion of cooking has derived from 30 years of experience working in Yorkshire, London and eventually settling down in Plymouth. In Plymouth Ryan has been the head chef of several well known eateries. Ryan’s journey in Plymouth started at Bistro Bene, where he achieved an AA rosette, he then opened the White Hart in Modbury, followed by overseeing Morgan’s Italian, The Mission, Steve’s Brasserie and the New Continental Hotel as the executive head chef, and Ryan’s last job before becoming chef patron was spent as Quay 33’s head chef under owner Dave Morgan. Ryan lives and breathes food and cooking. His passion for food shines through on each plate created and served by him and his team.

Tanya has a strong history in the hospitality business with almost 15 years experience. Holding an MSc in Learning for Sustainability; Tanya has driven The Fig Tree @ 36’s sustainable notion. She has waitressed throughout all of her studies; university is where she met Ryan. It was during her time studying her master’s degree that Tanya and Ryan started discussing how to make their dream restaurant a reality. From the beginning Tanya and Ryan began sourcing all their produce as locally as possible.

The Fig Tree @ 36 is a business who actively helps support the local economy, environment and community. Tanya’s passion and love for food has helped drive the business through their success. Whilst Ryan cooks and Tanya supports the foundations, they find the perfect balance between family and professional life as a couple, newly Mr and Mrs.
